🐼#guestpostmondays 🦔 * In addition to the 🎨 vlog, I’m also going to be doing weekly guest posts on the @pandacubstories instagram! Today’s first post is from @juicymandarinchinese . A great explanation of how to use ”郁闷” (for detailed explanation, see original caption below!) * #Repost @juicymandarinchinese with @get_repost ・・・ Here’s a word that feels much heavier — or more extreme — in English (at least that’s our experience). In Chinese, you can use 郁闷 yùmèn whenever you’re feeling disappointed about something or just a little down (it won’t make others worry too too much about you, unlike if you said “I’m so depressed” In English). Let’s say you had a job interview last week and still haven’t received a callback, you could say: “我有点郁闷，上周面试了但是还没有听到什么消息” (wǒ yǒudiǎn yùmèn, shàng zhōu miànshì le dànshì hái měiyou tīngdào shénme xiāoxi) “I’m feeling a little down; last week I had an interview but still haven’t heard any news..” 👉🏼 Do you notice any differences between the usage of 郁闷 in Chinese and ‘depressed’ in English? 🐼🎨 Journal/vlog #1: Back to doodling! (Swipe ⬅️ for video!) * 大家好(Dàjiā hǎo!), Hi everyone! This is a new segment I’m trying out (for you, and for me!). A bit of background: In the last two months, I’ve been working a lot on my computer: finishing the Kickstarter ebook/audiobook, redesigning the panda website, and tackling the logistical learning hurdles that come with trying to make @pandacubstories a small business (it’s exhilirating and terrifying! 😍🤩😱). In all that time, however, I’ve been feeling a little blue: I haven’t really touched my pens and paints at all during that time, and I haven’t been making visual art. While I identify as a multi-tasker who works (and is trying to learn) how to work in many disciplines, visual art has always been my *center*. When I stray too far away from it, I start getting anxious and grumpy. So! This "🐼🎨journal/vlog"is a small attempt for me to inject some color into my life (even as I’m focusing on less visual projects). I’m planning on doing this 2 or 3x a week. See you next time!
New art 🎨🖌🖍 supplies (💕🤩) (And 800 🐼followers! ) * Two updates today (tied into one)! I treated myself last week by ordering some new art pens (Pastel Tombow watercolor pens) and they arrived today!
